Phthalates

What are Phthalates?

Why are Phthalates in Perfume?

Phthalates are materials that are derived from the organic chemical phthalic acid. Diethyl phthalate (DEP) is the most common Phthalate found in perfume.

Phthalates are used in perfumes to:

Dilute- Cutting agent to make (a liquid) thinner or less strong.

Solubilize or Solvent. When one substance is dissolved into another.

Denature- a denaturant, renders alcoholic products unfit for oral consumption.

We recognize the issues of Phthalates and why you may not want to use them.

We do not use DEP (Diethyl phthalate). We use with IPM (Isopropyl myristate) as both solubilizer and solvent in our products.

Our Perfumers Alcohol is denatured with Bitrex (Denatonium benzoate).
