Gorgeous material

Wonderful tobacco-like accord with nuances of Ambroxan, Hay and Patchouli. Interestingly, if you mixed all those materials, you'd still wouldn't be able to capture the complexity and dry down of this interpretation. It may be a reconstruction of Liatrix, but I find it easier to work with than Tobacco Absolute, and it has a tremendous character to for example, replace Tonka Bean at trace amounts. It's awesome with Fig, with Cypriol and with Cedar, it blends beautifully with Rose, and it supports fruity, jammy notes from the base. I also find it to be an excellent partner for Tobacco, Leather and Saffron notes.
A mixture

According to the attached MSDS this is not an absolute, but a mixture of a few aroma materials. It is listed as a LIATRIX ABSOLUTE SUBSTITUTE : Coumarin, Geraniol, Linalool, Linalyl acetate, Limonene, Benzyl Benzoate, Caffeine, Geranyl Acetate, etc.

Liatrix is perfection! To my nose, it certainly smells of tobacco and tonka bean in the ideal balance. I can certainly see the clary sage connection. There's rather a bit of a background tea note. It is absolutely wonderful. It's a shame that it's so restricted, because it is so delightfully rich and complex. Thankfully it is dominant and powerful, even in small doses.

This is beautiful. Thick dark viscous but easy to handle. Rich and complex. The tobacco and hay notes are up front and there is a sweetness and depth to it as well, the longer it sits on your skin. The coumarin is there, the raisin, honey....very complex and just lovely.

To my nose it doesn't smell tobacco. Nor tonka bean. It smells more like clary sage. With a kind of salty cocoa and curry aspects or maybe fenugreek. A bit nutty. Makes me think of Jersey by Chanel. Very rich, complex aroma.
