How to Build a Long Lasting Perfume.

A bit about perfume fixatives.

Most people hope that adding a perfume fixative will address the problem of a short lived perfume. Unfortunately there is not a fixative that can be added to a perfume giving it the staying power most people wish for. Adding fixatives only work to a certain point. Adding to much Glucam will flatten dampen a perfume.

A long lasting perfume is in the formula of a perfume. The more long lasting aromas you use in the perfumes make up the longer the perfume will last. Our fixatives aromas like the violet fixative, citrus fixative and orris are best if used as the actual base of the perfume along with other long lasting aromas.
All the raw aroma chemicals have a longevity in hours stated in the aroma description. The more long lasting chems you use the longer the perfume stays on the skin.
The Glucam is really best for top notes it will extend the perfumes top notes.
There is a challenge in creating a fresh light perfume with this method. This is when the use of ionones is a good choice the violet fixative and citrus fixative base are great choices for fresh light floral or citrus perfumes. Here is a great guide to the Ionones.

Have a look at the aroma profile associated with each raw perfume ingredient. This will help you understand how the aroma will behave on the skin. Using aromas with greater longevity will assure a long lasting perfume. The more you use in a formula the better. This is also where musk aromas come in handy.
