A peculiar odorant, strongly diffusive, somewhat unpleasant in high concentration (a property it has in common with many nitriles) but in proper dilution having a fascinating, slightly unnatural (or technical) but elegant nuance, a sweet aromatic vibrancy, capable of adding a unique note to certain compositions. Symrise originally called Cantryl for "coumarin's radiant sister"! The name Cantryl derives from its chemical name: CAmpholenic NiTRYL (i.e. nitrile).
