Aroma Chemicals
Raw Perfume Materials (Aroma Chemicals): What are they and why use them.
Aroma chemicals are synthetic aromas. Virtually all perfumes on the market are comprised of aroma chemicals. With the exception of a small hand full of artisan perfumes, derived from natural products. We Bring you the finest perfumery ingredients from the top perfume & flavor houses in the world.
Individually aroma chemicals are bits and pieces of an aroma, that make up unique perfumes and flavors.
Some smells are wonderful in their raw state while others are unpleasant, but when used in small amounts lend certain aroma qualities like longevity, depth, and richness. Some unpleasant smelling aroma chemicals may be necessary to achieve a full bodied and elegant perfume.
Perfumers blend aroma chemicals to create a perfume formula. Most perfumes formulas have 6 up to 60 or more aroma chemicals in the formula. Many aroma chemicals also are used for the formulating of flavors used in baked goods, drinks, candy, alcohol, etc. Aroma chemicals have been used as early as the beginning of the 20th century when synthetic aroma chemicals such as aldehydes were first used in perfume.
Some aroma chemicals are extremely strong, while others are very soft and light.
This Is Just the nature of the chemical. This is actually a good thing as it makes it easier to make a formula that is multi-faceted. If all the aromas were super strong it would be very difficult to make a balanced perfume
Many of the light aromas are used as blenders or "fillers" and are very important in having a full bodied perfume. You will see their invaluable use as you progress as a perfumer. Some light aromas take on different quality's as they blend with other aromas. Some strong ones can be short lived of extremely tenuous.
The 2 ml samples are 100% (No Dilution) unless the aroma is only sold in dilution.
Some free samples are in dilution and will say on the bottle what the dilution is.
